We all know that staying hydrated throughout the day is part of a healthy lifestyle. And while we also all know that drinking water is the best hydration and the most effective way to maintain a healthy diet, we often struggle to reach the recommended 8 glasses of water a day. If you’re anything like me, gulping 2.5 litres of water on a daily basis can be quite a challenge and sometimes even boring. But it doesn’t have to be that way. My hydration game recently changed when I started chopping up my favourite fruits and herbs and started steeping them with water. Fruit infused water is super simple to make, refreshing and the natural way to flavour water. It’s also a much better alternative to store bought “vitamin” waters which contain artificial flavours and way too much sugar. It also has great health benefits such as boosting the metabolism, helping the digestive system and fighting back sweet cravings. With the warmer days fast approaching, a pretty combination of colourful fruits, herbs and even veggies will not only feel refreshing but will also look beautiful in a pitcher or in a glass. For a fresher and better taste, try using fruits that are in season. But you don’t have to wait for summer to prepare these delicious beverages. Frozen fruit is also a great alternative and infuses quicker, with the added benefit of keeping the water colder for a longer period of time.
Here are a few really easy interesting recipes but do keep in mind that the combination possibilities are endless and that the idea is to get creative!
