New Year, new beauty routine

Hi guys! I hope that you had an amazing time during the holidays and that you are excited about the New Year!  For most people, with every fresh start of the year, comes a long list of resolutions. Personally, I am not one that sets goals at the beginning of the year as I usually try to makes changes as I need to throughout the year.

A couple of months ago, I noticed that my skin had started to feel really dry and flaky, a feeling which typically comes during the winter months.  I also noticed that my hair was unusually dull, dry and brittle, often making it very hard to untangle. I had always been very negligent with my beauty routines, blaming it on the lack of time and patience, so I decided it was time to finally give myself a little extra TLC.  As I tried to find a simple, low maintenance beauty routine,  my approach to beauty had changed.  I realized that there weren’t any magical treatments to obtaining healthy hair and skin and that the key was in finding the right products. I discovered some really great products that have done wonders to my hair and skin without stripping them of their natural oils. Here are some of my faves:

Hair

NIUCOCO Hydrating Shampoo and Smoothing Conditioner

NIUCOCO, a Canadian company, offers 100% vegan and gluten-free hair products.  Formulated with a 100% certified pure, extra virgin coconut oil, these NIUCOCO products allow the natural oils to rejuvenate your hair by expanding its life expectancy and its retention of all micronutrients, such as Vitamin A, C and E. After a single wash, my hair came out super soft and shiny, not flat or greasy. I haven’t been this excited about hair products for as long as I can remember (and I have tried plenty!)  so I highly recommend these two products if you’re looking for a fast acting product that has an immediate impact.  The results will speak for themselves.

Skin

BIODERMA’s Sébium Foaming Gel

The Sébium Foaming Gel gently cleanses all the grim and dirt our skin collects throughout the day. After using this products for a few weeks, my skin felt soft and rehydrated and the red patches started to disappear. Because my skin is so sensitive however, I limit my washes to once daily, usually at night.

I know that exfoliation is really important to eliminate flaky skin and dead cells, especially during the winter months, but because my skin had been so dry, I was afraid to exfoliate. However, when I tried this product, my skin felt soft and clean without any skin irritation or that tight skin feeling I had previously experienced.  I sometimes use this gel with my Mia Clarisonicevery 7-10 days.

This rich, yet very light cream, made from a combination of sea minerals, moisturizes the skin up to 24h, activates the cells and offers a fresh and delicate scent.

ESTHEDERM’s High Nutrition Body Balm

To moisturize the rest of my body, I use the High Nutrition Body Balm right after my shower. I love that it leaves my skin feeling extra soft and silky, in addition to the subtle shimmer on the body.

Of course all of these products are great, but it is important to remember that they work best when you faithfully follow the regime on a regular basis. The results have been fruitful for me and well worth my daily 10-minute routine before going to bed!
